The Genesee Staff Council is a group of staff representatives, nominated by their peers to serve and represent the University of Rochester/River Campus staff. The mission of the staff council is to facilitate active and direct communication between the University staff and senior administration and to provide a forum for input and discussion of issues important to the staff and the University.

How are employees selected to serve on the Genesee Staff Council?

Serving on the Genesee Staff Council is open to all staff who work on the River Campus at the University of Rochester. Council members are elected by their peers from within their respective districts. Council members serve for a two-year term, which is effective from their date of election. There are no term limitations.

How often does the Genesee Staff Council meet?

Staff council meetings are held once a month for approximately two to three hours. Meetings of the council subcommittees are held bi-weekly, monthly, or as needed.

What does a typical Genesee Staff Council meeting agenda look like?

While each council meeting varies, there are some common features, including
announcements, scheduled time for districts to meet for small group discussion, and
committee work. Members of the University community, including senior administration, are frequently invited to meetings to address the council on a variety of topics.
