Discover what alumni working in sustainability-related fields have to say about their URochester education
Early on at the University of Rochester, I wanted to study international development efforts. My interests evolved to include sustainability as a primary interest, too. Through the interdisciplinary studies program, I was able to design my own major, combining these social and environmental studies into a Development in Sustainability degree.
The variety of course options available at UR has had a lasting impact on my career. I’m in a field related to my majors, and yet, some of the courses that I have found most valuable and that I reference most often were from outside of my major.
My degrees from the University of Rochester prepared me for my current role in the sustainability sector in every possible way. Working with professors who showed me the impact of people on the environment, gaining foundational knowledge, and getting opportunities from people at the University built my passion and, in many ways, gave me my mission in life.
