Sustainability Plan

A Vision for a Sustainable Future

Our Sustainability Plan provides a road map of sustainability goals and initiatives in three key focus areas. This plan is one of several frameworks for driving the University of Rochester forward, alongside the University’s Boundless Possibility strategic plan and the Master Plan. Together, these frameworks guide our decisions while we strive to incorporate sustainability in everything we do, from how we grow our physical spaces to how we support our community.

The Sustainability Plan is continuously evaluated to:

  • Ensure alignment with the objectives of the University’s Strategic Plan and other guiding frameworks
  • Stay up to date with activities across the University that support our sustainability commitments
  • Be operationally flexible to reflect evolving needs and realities

This approach helps us respond effectively to changing circumstances while maintaining accountability. It helps us to deliver real progress while remaining open for future opportunities to be incorporated and pursued.
