Reuse Programs

This surplus property program is open to all University community members. Items are donated from different areas of the University and are then available for purchase. Pick up items for free at an off-site warehouse or have them delivered for a $90 charge.

Items are stored at the University of Rochester receiving facility located at 107 Norris Dr. (enter via Nursery St.). The warehouse is open every Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

To schedule a pick-up of items you’d like to donate, place a Facilities service request. For questions about the program, email Brian Flaherty from Medical Center Facilities Operations at bflaher2@facilities.rochester.edu.

Employees in these units who are interested in repurposing or searching for repurposed furniture can submit a Space Planning Request. For questions or for repurposing other items, email Nicholas Ernst-Maynard at nicholas.maynard@rochester.edu.

Mail used and unneeded name plates to the URMC Sign Shop, Box 623. They will be repurposed for new name plates. Note that only name plates that have not been engraved can be accepted.

The University of Rochester’s shoe reuse program is designed to bring usable shoes first and foremost to those in need.

Donation bins can be found in the main locker rooms of the Goergen Athletic Center. All types of shoes are accepted.

Each batch of shoes collected by University Athletics is provided to organizations in the local community.

Swap used books at the Little Free Libraries available around the University of Rochester, including at the Children’s School at URMC, University Park Apartments, and Whipple Park Apartments.
