Overview

In collaboration with the Northeast Noyce Professional Learning Network, Molloy University will host a 2-day institute on June 3 and 4, 2025. This in-person event will highlight best practices, unique spaces, and current structures that can support STEM-interested students on the path to teaching. This institute will foster interactions with students, experts, and guest speakers in small and large groups as well as consider multiple opportunities that may influence current and future STEM educators, including the role and impact of virtual laboratories and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in science activities.

During this Institute:

  • Participants will examine science education from their own context and share meaningful conversations about ways to develop personal capacity for teaching STEM subjects.
  • Novice and experienced educators will discuss equitable and effective pathways for educators to build capacity for teaching in high-needs secondary schools and ways to infuse the arts, as well as hands-on inquiry-based activities.
  • Field trips on day two include a visit to the Cornell Cooperative Extension and a tour with the Agriculture in the Classroom Educator. We will also visit a Long Island salt marsh at the Marine Nature Study Area devoted to environmental education and natural history.
  • Participants may attend for one day, but a two-day engagement is encouraged. Breakfast, lunch, and transportation for the field trips are included.
  • Additionally, participants who complete a full day of event activities will earn $225 per day. If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Audrey Cohan, acohan@molloy.edu, PI of the Noyce Ambassadors Program at Molloy University.
