About Us
College is life changing, whether you're an undergraduate or not. At the University of Rochester, changing lives through education is what we’re all about.
The Office of Special Programs and Part-time Studies (OSP) makes it possible for you to explore the University of Rochester and its resources through credit and non-credit classes and thought-provoking seminars. We invite adult learners, talented youth, business professionals, educators, and community leaders to enjoy the many programs geared for their age group or interest.
We take a special interest in the education of Upstate New York’s young people. Our programs for young people help them to expand their minds, to take educational adventures, and to learn in a challenging, yet fun, environment. Our programs for young people include:
- Taste of College
- Bright and motivated high school students have the opportunity to experience real college life.
- Rochester On Campus
- This summer residential program allows high school students to experience life on a college campus.
- Young Entrepreneurs Academy
- A year-long program for innovative and entrepreneurial middle and high school students.
- Rochester Scholars or Rochester Scholars Jr.
- Talented and curious middle or high school students enjoy enrichment programs and exciting seminars.
And, we are committed to seeing every Rochester area student have the opportunity to take advantage of our resources. Our scholarship programs have made it possible for hundreds of Rochester's public school students to participate in programs and events—at no cost to them or their families.
Adults in our community also have unique opportunities through our office. Throughout the year, we offer ways for adults to grow as professionals, advance their education, or learn more about their personal interests. Possibilities for adult learners include:
- Degree programs
- Certification programs
- Lectures and events on special interests; including the arts, professional development, history, science, politics, and more
- Special programs tailored specifically for their profession
