Programs for Educators

I can do that fun thing I’ve always wanted to do when I found the right class—and this is that right class.”

Teacher Participation in Special Programs

University of Rochester faculty, graduate students, and local high school and middle school educators may propose courses for the Rochester Scholars and Rochester Scholars Jr. youth programs and for the Adult Education program.

These are paid positions and are fairly flexible in terms of time commitment. Course proposals are an exciting opportunity to be creative, teach a subject that you are passionate about, and interact with a fresh group of diverse and enthusiastic students.

Rochester Scholars Course Proposals
The Office of Special Programs is accepting course proposals for the 2009 sessions of Rochester Scholars, the University's precollege academic program for middle and high school students. For more information contact Kati Goodberlet, program manager, or call 275-2344.

Educator's Network

The Office of Special Programs knows that educators are always seeking new opportunities for their students. That’s why we host general information sessions for area middle and high school principals, teachers, guidance counselors, and staff members to learn more about the programs available for area youth.

Other Opportunities

In addition, we occasionally team with other University departments to host panel discussions on education issues. Contact us for more information.

Educators are also encouraged to explore our programs for Adults, including for-credit and non-credit courses and certificate programs.

Educators are also encouraged to nominate their middle and high school students for scholarships and write recommendation letters for their students. All of our youth programs require a recommendation letter as part of the application process. Learn more about our programs for Youth, including for-credit and non-credit programs, the residential summer program, and the year-long entrepreneurship education program.
