Registration is now available for Rochester Scholars Summer Session A (July 14-25) and Summer Session B (July 28-Aug 1) for students in grades 9-12. Summer Session for Rochester Scholars Jr. (Aug. 4-8) is for students in grades 6-8.

The College Experience on Campus

Students entering grades 9-12 can now apply for the Rochester On Campus (ROC) summer residential program. ROC students take Rochester Scholars classes or undergraduate courses during the day and live like a college student on campus for one, two, three, or four weeks in July and August.

The Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) class of 2007-2008, from the U of R and SUNY Geneseo, will showcase 19 businesses, built by local middle and high school students, inspired and instructed by local business leaders. The event is free and open to the public.

With Summer Around the Corner...
So is the Summer Session for Rochester Scholars and Jr.!

These non-credit academic enrichment programs are geared for students entering grades 6-12, and looking for a fun way to learn.  Students choose to enroll in a weeklong mini-course that focuses on a career field or specific topic, and uses a hands-on approach to curriculum.
To learn more about the courses being offered this summer:

There’s still time to apply for both 2008 Summer Sessions of Rochester Scholars (grades 9-12) and Rochester Scholars Jr. (grades 6-8).
Please be sure to fill out and submit the Teacher Recommendation form and Medical Liability/Publicity Waiver form with your application.

The Rochester Scholars (grades 9-12) summer registration deadline is June 13. The Rochester Scholars Scholarship application deadline is June 6.

The Jr. summer registration deadline is June 27. The Jr. Scholarship application deadline is June 20.

Late registrants are encouraged to apply by phone and a $25 late fee that applies. To register, or learn more about the programs please call the Office of Special Programs at (585) 275-2344.

Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) Trade Show

The business leaders of tomorrow from the University of Rochester and SUNY Geneseo reveal their small businesses to the public on May 15th from 5-7 p.m., in the May Room of Wilson Commons at the University of Rochester.

The Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) class of 2007-2008 will showcase 19 businesses, built by local middle and high school students, inspired and instructed by local business leaders. The event is free and open to the public, and is a great way to learn about getting involved in the YEA! Class of 2008-2009.

Time is Ticking as the Application Deadline for YEA! SUNY Geneseo Grows Near...

Do you know a student (currently in grades 5-11) who has the next great business idea? Encourage them to apply to the Young Entrepreneurs Academy Class of 2008-2009 at SUNY Geneseo.

YEA! is a year-long program that teaches middle and high schools students how to start and run their own business or social movement. The Geneseo program is available to students residing in Genesee, Livingston, Seneca, Wyoming, and Yates counties.

YEA! 2008-2009 kicks off on September 17, 2008 and meets once a week during the academic year. Full Scholarships are available and given out based on need and merit.

Live Like You're in College over the Summer!
Rochester on Campus

Registration is also open for the 2008 Summer Session of Rochester On Campus. High School Students live like college students for one, two, three, or four weeks. The 2008 session dates are as follows:

  • Four-Week Credit Program: July 14 - August 8

Move-In Date: July 13
Move-Out Date: August 9

  • Three-Week Non-Credit Program: July 14 - August 1

Move-In Date: July 13
Move-Out Date: August 2

  • Two-Week Non-Credit Program: July 14 - 25

Move-In Date: July 13
Move-Out Date: July 26

  • One-Week Non-Credit Program: July 28 - August 1

Move-In - July 27
Move-Out - August 2

Taste of College
High school students who have completed their sophomore year are eligible to take credit-bearing undergraduate courses at the UR this summer through the Taste of College program. Recommended courses include:

  • Preparation for College Chemistry
  • War in American Film and History: The First World War to the Present
  • History of American Popular Music
  • Revivals and Renaissances in Europe
  • Philosophy of Religion

Taste of College students can enroll in any of the Summer Sessions, which begin in May, June, and July. For a complete list of the 2008 Summer Sessions courses, click here.

For International Students or Business Professionals Looking to Brush up on the English Language

Classes are available for students at all levels, wanting to improve their English language skills, or to learn more about American culture.
The 2008 Summer Session offers:

• Intensive English Program: General Skills & Teaching Assistants:
(July 28-August 22)

The class takes place Monday- Friday, 9a.m.- 3p.m.
To apply, you must fill out the Summer Registration Form and Financial Form
• Application Deadline (for students who need a Visa): June 6, 2008. 

• Application Deadline (for students who do NOT need a Visa): July 11, 2008.
