Data Backup Services
Data Center Services provides backup system support in two areas, the Enterprise Backup System (EBU) and stand-alone backup systems. The EBU System supports a majority of the data protection of systems residing in the Data Center, as well as some systems in the Medical Center and on outlying properties that have sufficient high-speed network connections. The EBU is comprised of a SUN L700 Robotic library hosting LTO Gen I and II drives. It is managed by a central SUN V440, with two SUN V880s acting as Media Servers. The application managing the environment is NetBackup Enterprise, a product of Veritas/Symantec.
Some departments that find standalone backup systems, with the application and hardware being run on the system requiring data protection, are more appropriate. DCS Operations offers tape mounting, data cartridge housing, and other limited support services for systems housed in Data Center managed facilities.
