On Tuesday, April 12, Middle States vice president Terence Peavy will hold a special open forum for the University community. The forum will be held via Zoom from 1 to 2 p.m. EDT and will address the important roles that students, faculty, and staff will play in the reaccreditation process. During the live Zoom session, Peavy will also answer questions and explain the criteria and expectations of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Hackers are hungry. Are you feeding them information on social media?
Have you ever shared an important birthday, your pet’s name, or where you’re going on vacation through social media? Did you know hackers can use the information to know your whereabouts, guess passwords, and send a phishing email or text? Be mindful of what you share online and make your social media profiles and posts private. Use University IT’s Social Media Security tips for various platforms to customize your privacy settings and keep your information secure.
Jennifer Nayak, an associate professor of pediatrics and of microbiology and immunology, said that mask shopping for her three kids on Amazon.com and other sites spurred questions, including: “Is it real vs. counterfeit? Is it going to fit?”
The Mindful University Project is offering a peer-led yoga session for all practice levels on Mondays beginning today, April 11, in the Goergen Athletic Center from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for the rest of the semester. As an intentional space for stillness, you will leave class with strategies to help you navigate daily stressors as you move through the rest of your semester. Register for classes here.

Mindful Men of Color workshop
Join the Mindful University Project for a new offering of Koru mindfulness this semester, Mindful Men of Color. In this four-session course, individuals will be taught the skill of mindfulness and helped to build the habit of using it in life on a regular basis. This course will take place on April 13, 20, 27, and May 4 from 5 to 6:15 p.m. EDT in Douglass Commons, Room 407. Open to those who identify as male and a person of color. Allies are welcome. Registration is required.
Virtual session on the effects of supply chain disruption
The post-COVID-19 reopening of the global economy has been hampered by large and unprecedented supply-chain disruptions that have substantially increased both the costs and time involved in moving goods within and across borders. Join George Alessandria, a professor of economics, as he discusses the causes, domestic and foreign, of these supply-chain disruptions and the consequences for economic activity and prices in the past, present, and future.
