Some great debating in Toronto and West Point, NY
Teams had success in both British Parliamentary and Policy debate.

The URDU competed across two countries in North America this weekend, attending both the Hart House debate tournament at the University of Toronto and the US Military Academy tournament in West Point, NY.
In Toronto, at one of the most elite BP tournaments in North America, teams finished with relatively high positions in the rankings, but just short of reaching elimination rounds. As usual the hospitality at Hart House was phenomenal and the team had a great all-around experience.
In West Point three URDU teams had winning records and reached elimination rounds across all three experience level divisions of the tournament. Sophie and Aisha made it to JV Semifinals, as did Faith and Aiden, with Emily and partner James Rockwell Giovinazzo reaching Novice Octofinals. An impressive seven URDUers also received speaker awards: Lara Ozcayir was 9th Varsity speaker, Ashaz Rahman was 8th, Sophie Bassingthwaite was 8th JV speaker, Aisha Mbaye was 7th in JV, Faith Jones was 4th in JV, Aiden Swartz was 3rd in JV, Emily Cook was the 6th best Novice speaker at her second tournament ever!
UR Debate marches on across the halfway point of the Fall Semester to more great competitive achievements ahead!
