Ever better. Those words hold a lot of weight for Daina Druzynski. “When I started my career here I was inspired by the collaborative atmosphere of the university, and have been inspired every day for the past 15 years.” Collaboration is central to Daina’s work, and has contributed to her growth and career success here at the university. Prior to her current role as Executive Assistant for the Dean of the School of Nursing, Daina has held positions across the institution, from the Office of Advancement and Alumni Relations, the Simon Business School, School of Medicine and Dentistry, and the University of Rochester Medical Center.

Daina has contributed to multiple core initiatives during her time, afforded her the rewarding opportunity to participate in the task force to build the Faculty Recruitment Toolkit. The toolkit provides departments with a standardized approach to streamline recruitment and ensures the University’s recruitment efforts are in line with our commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Another highlight of her time has been shepherding the process for executive and senior faculty recruitment and bringing in top caliber thought and practice leaders to the university. “It’s invigorating to see the efforts of committed collaboration have positively impacted the systems our staff rely on.”

Another central thread to Daina’s professional philosophy is continuous learning, and engaging with all of the professional development resources available.  “One of the greatest parts about working here is the ability to connect with individuals across disciplines. I have learned so much from my colleagues, and am humbled by the diversity of skill sets, perspectives, and backgrounds that I am surrounded by on a daily basis.”

Where might you find Daina outside of work? You might find her riding her horse Violet, camping in the Adirondacks, hiking with her husband Mike or dog Remy, taking their boat on one of the beautiful Finger Lakes, or spending time with her nieces and nephews.

What’s next for Daina? “I’m so excited for the strategic planning we’re engaging in at the School of Nursing. I am ready to take what I’ve learned on the Emerging Leadership council and apply some of that work in this space, and continue to do what I can to make our learning community ever better.”
