Members of the George Eastman Circle, the University’s
premier leadership annual giving society, stand at the
forefront of a movement that will help provide an even
greater service to the world.
George Eastman understood that the world’s great research
universities are unique. They are the only institutions that can
contribute to the greater good of society, across the broadest
range of subjects, in perpetuity.
Early in the 20th century, George Eastman and a fellow group
of leaders recognized the important ways that the University
of Rochester could contribute toward the greater good.
Their vision, leadership, and philanthropic support were
instrumental in transforming the University of Rochester into
one of the world’s finest research universities. That support
spanned multiple disciplines and, today, the impact George
Eastman made is seen throughout the University community
and the world.
George Eastman Circle members make a five-year pledge of
$1,500 or greater annually to designated areas where their “The progress of the world
personal interests and passions are greatest. depends almost entirely
upon education.”
These extremely influential leaders earn a significant place in
University history for their dedication and belief in Rochester’s
future—and play a critical role in ensuring the University will
have a reliable, steady stream of income for years to come.
