RIVER CAMPUS
LIBRARIES
• Letters and manuscripts by Frederick Douglass and other
important abolitionists, including an early edition of
Solomon Northup’s Twelve Years a Slave, were acquired.
These items serve as an important addition to River
Campus Libraries’ already strong collection of African-
American historical materials that will continue to
support anti-slavery research and scholarly projects.
• Hosted by the Carlson Science and Engineering Library,
the University of Rochester’s first Data Dive saw over 20
students learn how to use data analysis to address real
world problems while supporting two not-for-profit
$1,370,508 community organizations.
Pledged
• The Libraries presented the May Bragdon Diaries Project,
which offers the transcribed and annotated diaries of
May Bragdon, a remarkable woman who lived in
Rochester during a time of great social transformation.
The diaries offer an illustrated view of a single, working
woman’s life from 1893 to 1914.
This is a small representation of the innumerable ways members have made an impact on the University and Medical Center this year.
