THE COLLEGE
• Students can now earn a citation in community-engaged
scholarship, which provides community-based, experiential
learning opportunities.
• Students continued to engage in diverse experiential
learning opportunities—95 percent participate in
internships, 77 percent are involved in undergraduate
research, and 90 percent engage in one or more of the
available 275 student organizations.
• The newly renovated Frederick Douglass Commons
opened. Visitors are enjoying a reinvented space that
includes a variety of dining options, including a kosher
kitchen, allergen-free zones, and a community kitchen; a
large event space for cultural expos, departmental fairs,
concerts, and speaking events; a fireplace lounge and
meditation and lactation rooms; and the new Paul J.
Burgett Intercultural Center and the new Language Center.
All dollars pledged toward the College are included in the Arts, Sciences &
Engineering total.
HAJIM SCHOOL
OF ENGINEERING
& APPLIED SCIENCES
• Students had the opportunity to choose from more than
240 classes in 19 countries for a global educational
experience.
• Engineering students were able to participate in summer
internships thanks to a partnership with the Gwen M.
Greene Career & Internship Center.
• Renovations were initiated that will have an impact on
several engineering programs when Wegmans Hall is
$3,158,537 opened for broad student and faculty use. This includes
Pledged Gavett Hall becoming an engineering undergraduate
teaching and learning space, and the electrical and
computer engineering programs moving into the
Computer Science Building.
This is a small representation of the innumerable ways members have made an impact on the University and Medical Center this year.
