Vocal Point, an all-female a cappella group at the University of Rochester, will be performing at 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12, in the May Room in Wilson Commons, located at the University of Rochester’s River Campus. Tickets are $3 in advance at the Common Market in Wilson Commons and $5 at the door.

Vocal Point is committed to singing, performing, and sharing the joy of music with others. Performing with Vocal Point is an all-male a cappella group, The Gentlemen, from the University of New Hampshire.

The ensemble will be premiering five new songs as well as performing old favorites. Their latest CD is titled The Swimsuit Issue. The group currently has nine CDs, including Rochester Classics, a compilation of five of their most well known songs celebrating the 35th anniversary of the group. Songs featured on this CD are “The National Anthem,” “The Dandelion Yellow,” “The Genesee,” “Bread and Roses,” and “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.” Rochester Classics can be purchased at the University of Rochester’s River Campus’s bookstore.

The Nov. 12 performance will be part of “Fashionably Late” which promotes inexpensive or free events, both on and off campus, that students can take advantage of Friday and Saturday nights. A cooperative effort of Wilson Commons Student Activities, the Office of the Dean of Students, and the College, “Fashionably Late” is organized by the Student Activities Office and coordinated with other student groups.
