Psychiatry professor Catherine (Kate) Cerulli will work with national health and health policy leaders as a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellow.

This spring, the University of Rochester’s International Theatre Program dives into the work of Everybody, and it is certainly not your typical theatrical production, with student actors playing a different role each night.

The inspireDANCE Festival—a signature event from the University’s Program of Dance and Movement—features nine days of more than 30 master classes, workshops, and performances on the River Campus.

Rachel Waddell, musical director for the Department of Music, joins Mittsy the Rochester Red Wings mascot for a community concert celebrating “150 Years of Baseball.” The University’s Chamber Orchestra and Concert Choir joined students from Rochester’s Roberto Clemente School No. 8 for a concert mimicked at night at the stadium.

Kate Eminger—a director and filmmaker based in New York—is visiting guest director of the International Theatre Program’s production of The Grown-Up, a play that, as she says, “captures this idea that there’s magic in everyday life.”

Music for film and television is, perhaps more than any other musical genre, about storytelling. And the musical centerpiece at the inauguration of President Sarah C. Mangelsdorf on October 4 is a work by one of the contemporary masters of musical storytelling, Jeff Beal ’85E.

The International Theater Program opens up its 30th anniversary season with the The Grown-Up on Thursday, October 3.  Written by Pulitzer Prize-nominated playwright Jordan Harrison, the production is described as a fairy-tale for grown-ups.

The University’s Institute for Popular Music and the Eastman School of Music host “Come Together: Fifty Years of Abbey Road,” a three-day symposium to commemorate the Beatles’ landmark work.

Siena Facciolo ’19 and Chris Palace ’18 worked together on musical projects while students at the University of Rochester, and as alumni that work continues at the Rochester Fringe Festival.
