Rochester was one of ten “Innovation Partners” in a new micro-scholarship platform called Raise.me, which allows high school students to bank money toward tuition costs when then record good grades, start a club, or volunteer in their community.

Four area high school students from the University’s Upward Bound program have been named “Outstanding Seniors” by the Monroe County Council of Superintendents.

Twenty years ago, the idea of students doing homework online and receiving immediate feedback was a game-changer. Today, more than 700 colleges and high schools and using the WeBWorK system developed by Rochester math professors Arnold Pizer and Michael Gage.

Rochester's Baja team is serving as host ambassadors to Team Helios Racing. The students flew 19 hours, stopping at JFK International Airport in New York City, and arrived Monday.

Four judges awarded Tashi Organics first place—and a $5,000 cash prize—after watching 15-minute presentations from each of the five finalists, praising the "realistic" plan and stating they believe it can make a positive impact on Tibetan refugees.

From an on-the-go barley water health drink, to training programs that reduce food waste for organic farmers, Rochester's social entrepreneurs are ready to compete in the intercollegiate business plan competition aimed at improving the lives of 125,000 Tibetan refugees.

They've competed all across the country, but this month University Baja SAE team members will bring their design and racing skills to their own back yard when Rochester Institute of Technology hosts more than 100 teams from 28 countries.

"When you can't breathe, nothing else matters," Jennifer Judge said at the end her presentation, which won over both the panel and audience at the University's first "Three Minute Thesis" competition.

Each year, seniors in the College are invited to nominate a high school teacher or staff member for consideration for the Singer Family Prize. The four award winners receive a plaque and $3,000, as well as $2,500 for their school.

This spring, the inaugural crop of students in Rochester’s new data science programs—at the undergraduate and master’s degree levels—are completing their first year of study at the Goergen Institute for Data Science, a program of the Schools of Arts & Sciences.

Graduating seniors are invited to bring their mortarboards and their imagination, and choose from paint, stickers, letters and more at this year's cap decoration event. Bubble guns will be given to the first 200 participants.

Several University students will pursue advanced studies, conduct research, and teach English language and U.S. culture abroad after being named 2016-17 finalists for the highly competitive Fulbright U.S. Student Grant program.
