Rochester Fringe Festival is one of the fastest growing in the United States, with performances from many University students, faculty, and staff. Six of those performers share what makes Fringe special.

Students, faculty, and alumni take their unique perspectives on difficult and controversial conversations into the community as part of the annual arts fest.

Erica Fee ‘99, award-winning theatre and festival producer, is the founding producer and board president of the First Niagara Rochester Fringe Festival, the annual, multi-disciplinary arts festival in downtown Rochester.

The Rochester Laptop Orchestra performs “Viral Composition” at the annual Rochester Fringe Festival. The group is composed of students at the University of Rochester and Eastman School of Music who compose and perform unique, interactive compositions controlled by Wiimotes, Kinect sensors, genetic sequences, and other custom sensors.

The University is a sponsor and major participant in the 2014 First Niagara Rochester Fringe Festival, taking place Sept. 18–27 in Rochester’s East End. Students, faculty, and alumni will perform in more than 40 shows during the 10-day city arts fest.

Around 30 performing groups comprising students and faculty from the College, the Medical Center, and the Eastman School of Music will perform at venues throughout the city.
