Faculty Honors

Eric Blackman, assistant professor of physics and astronomy, received the Plasma Physics Junior Faculty Development Award from the U.S. Department of Energy.

Worth Noting

The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences boasts the best ratio of undergraduates to faculty in the nation, with almost a one-to-one ratio for graduating seniors, according to a recent study by Prism. In addition, a U.S. News & World Report study lists the school among the most selective in the nation.

Ayala Emmett, associate professor of anthropology, won the poetry and fiction award from the Society for Humanistic Anthropology for her short story in Anthropology and Humanism.

Edward Freedman, assistant professor of neurobiology and anatomy, was named a Sloan Fellow.

William Hall, chief of the General Medicine and Geriatrics Unit and director of the Division of Geriatrics at Strong Memorial Hospital, began a one-year term as president of the American College of Physicians-American Society of Internal Medicine.

David Hursh, associate professor of education, won the outstanding teacher educator award from the New York State Association of Teacher Educators.

Stacey Kole, associate professor of economics and management at the Simon School, placed second in competition for the Jensen Prize for Corporate Finance and Organizations for a paper she published in the Journal of Financial Economics.

Kiriakos Kutulakos, assistant professor of dermatology and computer science, was named a Sloan Fellow.
