Sustainability Office welcomes new sustainability programs specialist

University Facilities and Services is excited to introduce Maryellen Zbrozek as the new sustainability programs specialist and member of the Sustainability Office. In this role, Maryellen will primarily focus on increasing education and engagement in all areas of sustainability across the University community. Maryellen will also be responsible for coordinating the publication of articles and other communications related to sustainability initiatives in newsletters across the University, as well as on the Sustainability website. Looking ahead, Maryellen is excited to work on expanding existing engagement programs and encouraging all within the University community to discover how sustainability can be integrated into everything they do.

Maryellen joins the Sustainability Office after working in corporate sustainability, where she specialized in compliance with recent EU legislation on sustainability in business. Maryellen’s background includes a Bachelor’s of Science in Ecology, Evolution, and Biodiversity, as well as a Master’s in Environmental Protection and Management. Outside of work, Maryellen is interested in inspiring more sustainable lifestyles and spending time outdoors. This has motivated her to pursue work in an educational setting focused on creating general stewardship of the environment and community. In this position, she hopes to create a stronger connection between student and faculty sustainability groups, as well as the greater Rochester community.

Maryellen can be reached via email at mzbrozek@facilities.rochester.edu.
