2017-18 UR Campus Nomination Timeline

Gaither Junior Fellowship (formerly the Carnegie Junior Fellows Program)

Please be advised that before we nominate you or endorse your candidacy for a fellowship competition, we will perform a conduct and academic honesty check to confirm that you are in good disciplinary and academic standing. Click here for the release/waiver form; please sign and return to the Fellowships Office.

Monday, September 25: Fellowships Preliminary Questionnaire (FPQ) due. See fellowships website for FPQ. Questionnaire is required to be considered for nomination and must be submitted before the first draft of GJF application. See Fellowships Office for current application materials.

NB: After submission of the FPQ, candidates should schedule a meeting with the Director of Fellowships (Belinda Redden). Call 585-276-5869 or stop by Fellowships Office in Dewey 4-209B to make appointment.

Tuesday, October 31: First draft of GJF application and essays due for initial review.

Monday, November 27, 12pm EST: Revised draft of complete GJF application and two recommendation letters due for campus committee review process.  

Recommendation letter files should be named according to this format:

Student Last Name_Fellowship Name Rec_Recommender Last Name (e.g., Smith_Fulbright Rec_Jones)

Signed reference letters should be submitted on letterhead with a current date to the secure File Request folder on Dropbox. Be sure to provide references with GJF Program overview and selection criteria.

Mid-December: GJF Campus Nominating Committee meets to interview candidates and select nominee(s).


Monday, January 8, 12pm EST: Complete, final, revised GJF application and final recommendation letters due at Fellowships Office for nominees.

*** Prospective candidates may come to the Fellowships Office to review essays submitted by previous UR Carnegie Junior Fellowship / Gaither Junior Fellowship nominees. ***
