We must do more than listen to those who have been underserved for far too long. It’s time for action.

Recruiting a diverse faculty is a priority. Faculty fellows, visiting scholars, and cluster hires can create a more supportive academic environment. We need the resources to meet this objective. We also hope to increase financial aid to recruit and support a more diverse and inclusive student body.

Monique Mendes ’18M (MS), ’20M (PhD) moved from Kingston, Jamaica to South Florida, when she was a teenager. Her parents hoped she would live the American dream. And, because of her hard work, determination, and passion for science, she has.
