What advice do you have for prospective or new researchers?
One of the most valuable parts about research is the community that comes with it. Especially as an undergrad, relationships with mentors who challenge and support you can be the most impactful parts of the experience. Be excited about your research and your field, but also find good mentors and focus on building great connections with them.
Research is also the perfect place to develop technical skills and expertise within a certain subject area, but beyond that, it teaches you how to think critically, approach problems with curiosity, and navigate challenges. Be open when you are starting out with research, and approach it as a place to learn and grow -- not only, professionally, but personally.
