What advice do you have for prospective or new researchers?
Research at U of R is, in my opinion, one of the most beneficial things you can do outside the classroom when it comes to exploring your academic interests. You may know the general field you want to go into, i.e. your major, but not quite yet know what your niche in that world is. Research is a fantastic way to get exposed to many different ideas/disciplines/perspectives that might spark your curiosity in a particular area of interest going forth.
Even if you aren't sure on what field you see yourself in, research is meant to be an exposure to a whole microcosm of academic passions that you may find interesting too. With this in mind, come into research with that explorative mindset, and remember that it doesn't need to be intimidating or anything that ends up set in stone.
