Effective August 15, 2017, all of the University’s campuses will be tobacco-free both inside and outside campus buildings. The University will now join 1,468 college and university campuses nationwide that are tobacco-free.

The University of Rochester will recognize the outstanding contributions of distinguished leaders, scholars, and humanitarians by bestowing 2017 honorary degrees, medals, and awards for scholarship and teaching.

According to the 2017 QS World University Rankings released on March 8, eleven U.S. universities ranked in the top 25, with the University of Rochester No. 8 among them.

Membership in this international exchange organization makes it more seamless for engineering students to take a semester abroad while continuing with their program of study.

Officials from the University’s International Services Office (ISO) continue to strongly recommend that students, scholars, and employees from the affected countries who plan to travel internationally speak with an ISO staff member before leaving the U.S.

Tuition for undergraduates in the College will increase 3.7 percent to $51,090 for the 2017-18 academic year. Room and board will increase 3.4 percent to $15,324. Tuition for the Eastman School of Music will also increase 3.7 percent to $51,440. Undergraduate financial aid will increase 4.3 % over the current year forecast to $138.1 million.

River Campus’ newest residence hall, which will overlook the Genesee River from its east side, will also bear its name. Scheduled to open this fall, Genesee Hall will feature housing for approximately 150 freshmen, as well as meeting rooms, a new locker room facility, and training rooms for athletic programs.

Mavrinac is a recognized leader in the creation of inspiring learning spaces and the development of digital services. In her first five years here, she has led two major space renovations in Rush Rhees Library—the creation of Evans Lam Square, and the forthcoming iZone.
