Rochester is currently ranked 13th by US News and World Report in its list of best colleges for veterans. As Veterans Day approaches, six University students from each of the branches of the armed services share their stories of moving from the military to the classroom.
Honoring fallen alumni, faculty on Memorial Day
Members of the University community have served in wartime since the Civil War, and many have paid the ultimate sacrifice. We remember five here: from the Civil War, World War I, World War II, Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
Veterans Alliance offers fellowship, structure
Created in 2013, the group is open to all students, faculty, staff, and alumni who are active duty military or veterans, and provides events and resources throughout the year. This Veterans Day weekend, the group will host the annual Military Appreciation Football Game.

Bringing recognition to forgotten group of women veterans
Tiffany Miller ’00 and her family worked for years to overturn a ruling that prohibited World War II Women Airforce Service Pilots—known as WASPs—from being buried at Arlington National Cemetery. President Barack Obama signed their bill into law last week.

Veteran and Military Family Services Office opens
There has been a 50% increase in the number of veteran students enrolled at the University since 2010. To better serve those students, and the family members of veterans, the University will celebrate the opening of the new Veteran and Military Family Services Office this Veterans Day.
