NYS Inventory of Registered Programs

The New York State Department of Education approves all academic programs and degrees that the University of Rochester awards. These approved programs are listed on our Inventory of Registered Programs. The official NYS listing of the Inventory of Registered Programs for the University is available online.

Condensed versions of the Inventory are also available for download. Produced and maintained by Institutional Research, Office of the Provost, these tables include information that is specific to the University of Rochester.

By degree level:

Bachelors programs — (B.A., B.M., B.S.)
Masters programs — (M.A., M.S., M.A.T., M.B.A., M.M., and M.P.H.)
Doctoral and first-professional programs — (D.M.A., Ed.D., Ph.D., and M.D.)
Other programs — (certificates, SMD first-year clusters, undeclared and other programs)
All programs — (all active University programs)

By school:

College of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering
Eastman School of Music
School of Medicine and Dentistry
School of Nursing
William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration
Margaret Warner Graduate School of Education and Human Development

These tables can be used by University staff and administrators looking for information to fulfill SEVIS requirements.

The seven fields included on each table are:

  • NYS Program Code – unique five-digit code assigned to each program by the state.
  • NYS Program Title – major title as it appears on the Inventory of Registered Programs. The ISIS major title may differ slightly from the Inventory title.
  • Degree Awarded – specific degree awarded.
  • ISIS (Integrated Student Information System) Major – accepted University major code.
  • ISIS Title – accepted University major title or description of program or degree.
  • CIP (Classification of Institutional Programs) Code – six-digit code used in government reporting.
  • CIP 2000 Title – title or description corresponding to the CIP codes.

Recent Updates and Changes

Starting with the 2004-2005 academic year, all official correspondence to the University from the State concerning the Inventory of Registered Programs will be listed on this web site by school. If a program is jointly registered between two schools, the program notice will be listed in both schools. Additionally, a summary of each program notice accompanies the relevant correspondence.

Program Proposal/Change Process

Departments and programs wishing to change the name of a current program or degree, or who wish to develop a new program, must obtain approval of the Office of the Provost after completing the required New York State forms. Questions about this process should be directed to Kathleen Moore.
