European Book Club Breakfast

Where: Romanian Cultural Institute in New York, 573-577 3rd Avenue (at 38th Street), New York, NY

Join the European Book Club partners for a special breakfast on March 10 to learn more about this cross-country collaboration project dedicated to promoting contemporary European literature among NYC readers. The event will offer an opportunity to meet the promoters of this platform, to learn about its surprising success, and to discuss and plan new ways to attract American readers to literature in translation.

The European Book Club in NYC is a collaboration between the New York-based European cultural institutions from Austria, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, and Spain. The Club meets monthly in a different cultural institute and discusses a well-known, contemporary novel of the respective country, thus offering to NYC readers the opportunity to gain insight into contemporary literature in translation, take the pulse of current trends, and grasp the must-read books from across Europe. Since its establishment in 2008, the European Book Club has enjoyed an overwhelming response from NYC readers, and plans extended activities and spin-offs in other North American cities.
