Festival Neue Literatur

Fruhschoppen: Literary Brunch from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM. Join us at Deutsches Haus, 42 Washington Mews (NYU). The six German-language authors of Festival Neue Literatur join the U.S. authors for a sampling from their work, providing a taste of new writing from Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. Writing and Memory from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Idlewild Books, 12 W. 19th Street. A panel – including both readings and discussion – with Antje Ravic Strubel, Julia Schoch, Dorothee Elmiger, Francine Prose, and Susan Bernofsky will explore the uses of literary memory, its complexities, and its pitfalls. The three German-language writers joining American novelist Francine Prose have all made remembering a central part of their work.

The Festival Neue Literatur presents authors Andrea Grill and Andrea Winkler of Austria, Dorothee Elmiger and Peter Weber of Switzerland, and Julia Schoch and Antje Ravic Strubel of Germany, as well as two American authors, Francine Prose and Rivka Galchen.
