2011 Harold Morton Landon Translation Award

I’m excited to announce that Jeffrey Angles has won this year’s Harold Morton Landon Translation Award for his translation from the Japanese of Forest of Eyes: Selected Poems of Tada Chimako.

There’s not a lot of info on the official award page (a pet peeve, but I’ll resist teeing off on the Academy of American Poets website for today, since it’s Monday and the 16-7 Cardinals victory on Saturday put me in a temporary good move), but the award is given out every year to a collection translated from any language into English.

The list of past winners is pretty damn impressive: Clayton Eshleman, Robert Fagles, W. S. Merwin, Anselm Hollo, Cola Franzen, W. D. Snograss, Guy Davenport, Robert Pinsky, Rosmarie Waldrop, Charles Simic are just some of the recent winners.

Congrats to Jeffrey, and you can get a copy of Forest of Eyes by clicking here.
