Refunds

If you are dropping or withdrawing from a course, you may only be refunded a portion of the tuition paid. Please note that the add/drop schedule is different from the refund schedule. For noncredit and audited courses, tuition will not be refunded once classes have started.

Please note: If you pay your tuition bill using a debit or credit card, the 2.75% service charge is non-refundable under all circumstances.

Fall 2024

If you drop the course on:You will receive a:

September 23–3050% tuition refund
October 1–725% tuition refund
On or after October 8No tuition refund

Spring 2025

If you drop the course on:You will receive a:
On or before February 3100% tuition refund
February 3–February 1775% tuition refund
February 17–2450% tuition refund
February 24–March 325% tuition refund
On or after March 4No tuition refund

University of Rochester employees

Refunds for University of Rochester employee tuition benefits are contingent upon your successful completion of the course and continuation of eligibility for tuition benefits, based on employment status with the University. If these criteria are not met, you will be responsible for payment of the course and any related fees. Additionally, your approved tuition benefit waiver is only for the courses listed. Any change in courses listed (add, drop, or withdrawal) will result in you being responsible for payment of the course and any related fees.
