ISO is committed to providing you with the best possible service, so we’re continuing to develop new tools and functionality for the URcompass client portal. We’ve partnered with our academic and administrative teams to create these resources, where you’ll find additional training materials and resources to help you use the system effectively.

Who Needs URcompass Access?

You should request URcompass access if you are responsible for initiating or managing immigration-related requests on behalf of your department.

This includes:

  • Department administrators or coordinators submitting requests for:
    • New Student Intake Forms (NSIF) for admitted international students
    • J-1 scholars (e.g., new scholar requests, extensions, updates)
    • H-1B employees (e.g., new sponsorship requests, extensions, amendments)
  • Departmental contacts working directly with ISO on student, scholar, or employee immigration processes

If you are unsure whether you need access, please contact ISO—we’re happy to help determine the appropriate setup.

Who Does Not Need URcompass Access?

You do not need access if you are:

  • A faculty member or academic advisor serving as a 2nd approver for student requests (e.g., CPT, Reduced Course Load, program extensions)
  • A staff member providing academic or administrative support but not submitting immigration requests
  • Anyone who interacts with ISO processes only through email or student-facing workflows

Granting access only where needed helps maintain system clarity and security.

Not sure if you need access?
Contact ISO before submitting a request—we’re happy to help determine the correct setup.

Continuous students e-forms

In the past, departments uploaded OPT and CPT request forms in PDF format on behalf of their students in URcompass (via the Document Upload e-form).

While the Document Upload e-form remains in place for other types of requests, CPT and OPT requests are now separate e-forms and will require that students submit their requests in URcompass.

For more information about the changes in processes which may require your participation, please review the ISO’s Academic Contact Guide to URcompass E-Forms.

This ISO information session recording also provides an overview of the new e-form requests.
