Former CBS White House correspondent Bob Pierpoint will present his personal reflections of Presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower through George W. Bush during a luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., Friday, May 4, at the Memorial Art Gallery, located at 500 University Ave. in Rochester.
Pierpoint, who began his career in Scandinavia in 1951, covered the Korean War and Asia until 1957. He then spent 22 years at the White House, reporting on the administrations of Presidents Eisenhower through Jimmy Carter. During this time, Pierpoint covered such major events as the Cold War, the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963, and President Richard Nixon's resignation from office in 1974. From 1980 until 1983, Pierpoint served as the chief diplomatic correspondent. He retired in 1990.
Pierpoint's presentation is part of "Issues," a luncheon series sponsored by the University of Rochester Alumni Association. Tickets for the event are $20 per person. Space is limited.
