Health Professions Advising

Upper-level Honors/Quest Courses

A successful applicant to a health professional school will take advantage of every opportunity to stretch and challenge herself. Remember to keep your strengths and weaknesses firmly in mind when registering for courses; more difficult courses will enhance your credentials ONLY if you do well in them.

Pre-requisite course requirements for health professional schools are often defined as college course requirements. Students are encouraged to take more advanced courses if they are qualified to do so, but one advanced course will not satisfy a requirement for two college courses in a particular subject area. For instance, if you complete two semesters of organic chemistry as a freshman, you will still need to complete two more semesters of chemistry to satisfy many health professional programs’ chemistry prerequisites. Do consult with a health professions advisor if you have specific questions about course selection and satisfying prerequisites.
