Service and Stewardship: Key Initiatives Ahead
Following are some of the important projects now beginning.
Financial
- Strategic analysis of institutional debt structure and policy
- Continuing work with divisions on key financial issues
- Financial assessment and improvement of the University's dining programs
- Continuing efforts to identify and take action on potential cost savings in central administration
Communications
- Continuation of Administrative Forum
- Continuation of meetings between key academic leaders and Administration and Finance directors
Compliance, Business Policy
- Assessment (in conjunction with the Office of University Counsel) of current compliance activities
- Expansion of Web-based training in health, safety, and compliance
- Launch of a "Sarbanes-Oxley pilot" in which a department's operations are evaluated for compliance and good business policy.
Safety
- Development of a strategic plan for fire prevention regulations
- Strengthening of the University's emergency preparedness
Savings
- Execution of the cogeneration initiative
- Executing a Group Purchasing Organization contract with a significant impact on University expenditures for supplies, both for medical and non-medical products
Systems
- Exploration of improvements to the building automation network
- Analysis of potential improvements to the parking system
- Development (in conjunction with the Information Technology Services division) of a plan for the replacement of IT systems
- Continuing improvement of the Human Resources Management System (HRMS)
- Wider adoption of the Secure Pay program
- Initiation of the University Payroll Card as a safer, more convenient alternative to paychecks
- Roll out of NIH electronic grant submission procedures
