- Strong Memorial Hospital again showed strong performance, with an operating margin of 5.5% in 2006 as compared to 4.9% in fiscal year 2005.
- Operating revenues increased by 9.3% due primarily to favorable inpatient case mix, higher than budgeted reimbursement rates and growth in selected outpatient areas.
- Operating expenses increased by 8.6% related to wage and salary increases for staff as well as costs associated with increased patient volumes and acuity, and inflationary trends in medical supplies and pharmaceuticals.
