Supporting a vibrant, inclusive community where ideas thrive.

Welcome to Rochester
The Dean of Students, Anne-Marie Algier, welcomes new and returning students to the University of Rochester in her letter to incoming students. Dean Algier encourages all students to take advantage of the many resources available on campus, and reminds students that her office is here if they find themselves in need of additional support.
Letter to Incoming StudentsOur Mission
The Office of the Dean of Students contributes to the mission of the University by providing programs and services that augment and contribute to student learning and community development.
M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence
By serving as a physical manifestation of Gandhian principles and Martin Luther King’s Beloved Community, the Gandhi Institute seeks to advance the cause of peacemaking regionally and beyond from within a neighborhood challenged by poverty and violence.
The CARE Network
The CARE Network exists to identify and support students who may be struggling. A CARE Referral is submitted when someone is concerned about a University of Rochester student. Any individual connected with the University of Rochester community is welcome to submit a CARE Referral, or contact a CARE staff member directly.
