Samuel Huntington Public Service Award
The Samuel Huntington Public Service Award provides funding for graduating college seniors to pursue one year of public service anywhere in the world.
First presented in 1989, the annual award allows recipients to engage in a meaningful public service activity before starting graduate school or a career. Past awardees have included MacArthur “Genius Grant” prize recipients, the US Surgeon General, and Forbes 30 Under 30 honorees.
The award was established as a memorial to Samuel Huntington, who was president and chief executive officer of the New England Electric System (now National Grid) until his accidental death in July 1988.
