Students of internationally acclaimed pianist Zora Mihailovich, who is artist-in-resident in the Department of Music in the College of the University of Rochester, will perform in recital at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, in lower Strong Auditorium on the River Campus.
The students, who meet with Mihailovich for weekly hour-long lessons, will perform works by Haydn, Shostakovich, and Saint-Saens. The event is free and open to the public.
Born in Belgrade, Mihailovich in known around the world as a recitalist, orchestral soloist, recording artist, and educator. She has performed in numerous venues, including Londonís Royal Festival Hall, Amsterdamís Concertgebouw, and New Yorkís Carnegie Hall, and with such orchestras as the Washington Symphony, the Belgrade Philharmonic, the Warsaw Philharmonic, and the Budapest Symphony Orchestra.
Mihailovich has collaborated with singers Placido Domingo, Nicolai Gedda, and Anna Moffo, and has performed in festivals in Europe and North America, including the Salzburg Festival in Austria and the American Landmark Festival in New York. As a Steinway Artist, she gives master classes in the United States and Europe.
Mihailovich has made several recordings for North American and European recording companies on the Centaur, PGP-RCT, Virtuoso, and Virtuoso Classics labels.
