Research Security Training
ORPA-L: Fri, 26 Jun 2026
To support compliance with federal Research Security Training (RST), please follow the guidance below when working with University faculty and external collaborators:
- Check UR faculty RST completion status early:
Please verify the RST status for all UR faculty listed in the application process. Training can be found in IORA.- Faculty must have completed RST within 12 months of proposal submission.
- Training must be completed before certifying a Biosketch or Current and Pending Other Support document in SciENcv.
- Subaward collaborations:
For collaborations that will result in a subaward to an institution, a certified Biosketch and Letter of Intent (LOI) signed by an AOR/Institutional Official are sufficient documentation of RST compliance.
- Non-University individuals considered Senior/Key:
If an external individual will be listed in the application and considered Senior/Key personnel, we must obtain documentation of RST completion. Acceptable forms include:- A training completion certificate (preferred), or
- An email (if a certificate is not available) from the individual confirming that they are in compliance with the sponsor's RST requirements.
- Non-University individuals not considered Senior/Key:
For external individuals who are not considered Senior/Key personnel, a certified Biosketch is sufficient documentation.
Please ensure these requirements are addressed early to avoid delays in proporal preparation and submission.
If you have any questions, please contact your ORPA RA.
