The Department of Public Safety is pleased to announce the appointment of SueAnn Farnsworth as the University of Rochester’s first Clery compliance officer. This newly created position underscores the University’s ongoing commitment to transparency and ensuring compliance with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act), a federal law that requires universities to publicly report information about campus crimes and maintain safety policies and procedures.
Farnsworth brings nearly a decade of experience in Clery Act compliance, accreditation management, and regulatory oversight within higher education public safety environments. In her new role, she will lead the University’s compliance efforts, working with offices across campuses, local law enforcement, and fire departments to maintain accurate reporting and ensure seamless collaboration. She will also coordinate training and communication initiatives to keep the campus community informed about safety policies and emergency procedures.
Most recently, Farnsworth served as the Clery compliance officer and accreditation manager for the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater Police Department. In this role, she managed comprehensive Clery Act compliance operations, including crime data classification, daily crime and fire logs, and the preparation and publication of the Annual Security Report. She also trained and coordinated Campus Security Authorities, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, and collaborated with internal departments and external agencies during state and federal compliance audits. Earlier in her career, Farnsworth served as a quality manager for Herbsmith, Inc., where she developed and implemented compliance and quality control systems, led accreditation initiatives, and trained staff on safety and regulatory protocols.
Farnsworth is recognized for her exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to foster effective cross-departmental partnerships.
