Study Local in China Program

During the fall 2020 and spring 2021 semesters, the College offered a Study Local in China Program for students living in China who were unable to travel back to the University of Rochester during the COVID-19 pandemic. This program was discontinued after the spring 2021 semester.

Study Local was an optional program that allowed for students to take courses locally at specific partner universities and transfer the credit back to the University of Rochester. Participating students could enroll in the program as full-time Study Local students, or divide their course registration between online University of Rochester classes and Study Local classes. The Study Local in China Program was administered by the Center for Education Abroad (CEA) and credit earned was subject to the same policies that apply to study abroad transfer credit.

To arrange for transfer credit, students were responsible for completing a Course Approval Form. If courses were intended to fulfill cluster requirements, an approved Cluster Exception Form was also required. Courses intended to be used to fulfill requirements for majors and minors required department approval. Transfer credit was awarded for courses successfully completed with a grade of “C” or higher.
