Incoming Students
Dean of students, Anne-Marie Algier, letter to incoming students (PDF):
Hello Yellowjackets;
Whether you are just beginning your academic journey or returning for another year, it’s with the warmest wishes that I welcome you to the hive. The start of the academic year signals a new chapter full of growth, discovery, and opportunities. I encourage you to take advantage of this time to explore your interests and to connect with the buzzing community around you.
University Student Life continues to evolve under Vice President John Blackshear’s leadership, and as we align our mission with the University’s strategic plan, Boundless Possibility, I remain energized by the work being done to create an environment where all students can thrive, both inside and outside the classroom.
The Office of the Dean of Students is here to support you through any student life concern and is located on the fifth floor of Wilson Commons. There are many resources available to you, and we will guide you to the offering that will help meet your need.
As an institution we hold close our Meliora Vision and Values and each year we highlight one value to focus on. This is the year of MELIORA – “We strive to be ever better, for everyone." I encourage you all to be proud members of this community, ensuring that your choices can have a positive impact on you and those around you.
In the spirit of Meliora, we have a Student Code of Conduct that you should familiarize yourself with. Also, please be sure to complete any required trainings that will be activated for you in Blackboard. These resources help shape a positive and safe community. If you have any questions or need clarifications, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Best wishes for a great year!
Anne-Marie
