Students' Association Update

Looking Forward to a Fun-Filled Spring

The Spring semester is already underway, however the undergraduates on the River Campus haven't forgotton winter's presence! Members of the Campus Activities Board, Class Councils, and the Students' Association joined together during the final weekend of January to host one of our four exciting college celebrations—Winterfest Weekend!

Students' Association President Tyler Socash.

On Saturday evening, January 31st, the Wilson Quad was transformed into a Winter Wonderland. Students participated in horse drawn wagon rides along the Genesee River, played with sled dogs, and roasted marshmallows over campfires. The weekend also included a UR Idol performance competition, a Laser Tag competition in the Goergan Athletic Center, and a performance by comedian B.J. Novak!

Throughout the upcoming semester, the Students' Association will continue to spearhead a campus-wide school spirit intitiative entitled "Fill Fauver/Pack the Palestra." Students and faculty across the University of Rochester campus will be encouraged to display their Yellowjacket pride at selected games during the spring semester. In an attempt to draw the maximum amount of fans and to unify the games, U of R students will receive giveaways and prizes at each sponsored event.

Fill Fauver/Pack the Palestra Schedule:
Feb. 14—Men's Squash vs. U. Penn., Noon
March 27—Women's Lacrosse vs. Clarkson, 4 p.m.
March 28—Women's and Men's Tennis vs. Brandeis, 10 a.m. and noon, respectively
April 10—Softball vs. Geneseo, 3 p.m.
April 11—Baseball vs. RPI, noon

Last semester, the Fill Fauver/Pack the Palestra initiative helped the University of Rochester rank 10th in Division III out of 382 schools in men's soccer attendance throughout their season. The success of the program continued into the current semester as the most recently sponsored game—the men's and women's basketball games vs. Washington University on Jan. 23—had an attendance of over 1,200! Ultimately, it is the goal of the Students' Association to facilitate an inclusive and energetic environment which will enhance student life on campus. We hope the enthusiasm U of R students show at these programs carries over into other aspects of their semester! The Students' Association is certainly looking forward to a fun-filled spring!
