Career Experiences 'On the Road' in January

Several off-campus, career-related events occur while your student is on break in January. The Career and Internship Connections (CICs) and Student-Alumni Networking Nights are open to all majors and class years. Both are valuable offerings for those seeking career focus and contacts, and leads and interviews for both internship and post-baccalaureate employment. Please encourage your student to attend one or more of these events if you live near, or your student hopes to work in, one of these cities.

Career and Internship Connections
At these recruiting consortia events, employers in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, D.C. meet and interview candidates from some of the nation’s top undergraduate schools. These events were founded and are administered by the University of Rochester’s Career Center and include career fair and prescreened interview components. Students have received e-mails about CICs, but your enthusiastic support of these offerings would be appreciated. Find details about all five CICs.

Student-Alumni Networking Nights and Networking Resources
Student-Alumni Networking Nights take place following CICs in Boston, New York City and Washington, DC. At these receptions, students will meet and talk with alumni representing various career fields, including: banking and finance, public relations, communications, law, government, politics, entrepreneurship, non-profits, and consulting. The program is informal to permit easy conversation between students and our alumni (and parent!) volunteers. Students should register for Student-Alumni Networking Nights before Dec. 22 at www.rochester.edu/alumnievents. Space is limited. Please note, students do not have to attend a CIC event to attend a Networking Night.

These events are free and hosted by the Office of Alumni Relations.

Your student will be receiving more information about these events. Please encourage them to register And, please encourage them to schedule an appointment with a counselor to discuss networking strategies and learn how to use the new Career Advisory Network.
