The Historical Society of Southern California awarded me two research grants for the project, which is the tale of Earl Stendahl, a visionary Los Angeles art dealer.”

Les McClure (MS) writes that he has retired from Pfizer Global Research after spending 16 years in the diabetes department. He’s living in Connecticut and says he plans to stay there.

Jan Hasak (MS) writes that she has published the book Mourning Has Broken: Reflections on Surviving Cancer (Xulon Press). As a patent attorney at the biotech giant Genentech, Jan chronicles her story of battling breast cancer twice while raising three boys with her husband, Jim Hasak (Mas). . . . Leonard Jason (PhD) writes that he’s a professor of psychology at DePaul University. Over the last year, he has secured $6 million in NIH funding to continue his work with disadvantaged people. Leonard also cowrote Rescued Lives: The Oxford House Approach to Substance Abuse (Routledge).

Carolyn Ainslie S (MBA) has been named Princeton University’s vice president for finance and treasurer. She has served as vice president for planning and budget at Cornell University since 1998. . . . Hasan Pirkul S (PhD) has been named one of the most influential people in Collin County, Texas, by the magazine Inside Collin County Business. He is dean of the school of management at the University of Texas at Dallas.

Doug Ambrose (MA) was promoted to professor of history at Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y. He joined the faculty in 1990.
1989
Geoffrey Liu S (MBA), the 2008 president of the National Association of Chinese American Bankers, was honored at the association’s annual meeting in August. And among those there to recognize him was Sandra Lee Kawano ’69. Geoffrey is president of Chinatrust Bank (USA), headquartered in Southern California with more than 25 branches nationwide.

Amit Goyal (PhD) has been named a corporate fellow at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee. His research has focused on high-temperature superconductivity.
