River Campus Undergraduate 1990s

1990

John Sotomayor writes that his work with El Reportero Latino was honored with first place in community news writing by the Florida Press Club last fall. He sends a photo of himself with actor John Travolta, who was the subject of three articles John has written. The photo was taken at the premiere of the movie Old Dogs at the Regal Hollywood Theater in Ocala. John adds: “I am happy to say my business, Sotomayor Media Creations, is doing well and the Ocala/Marion County Chamber of Commerce appointed me ambassador to the chamber and chair of the Hispanic Business Council. 1991

Carolyn Weisberger Mendelson received the Distinguished Service Award of 2009 from the North American Securities Administrators Association in recognition of her work in securities law and investor protection. Carolyn is a counsel at the Pennsylvania Securities Commission and teaches at the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz School of Business.

1992

Sarah Robert writes: “Since graduating from the University at Wisconsin–Madison in August 2008 with a PhD in educational policy studies, I have been working as an assistant professor in the Graduate School of Education at the University at Buffalo. After almost two decades of living everywhere but western New York, I am enjoying getting to know the area again. I am in good company with another Yellowjacket, Ron Battaglia ’89, and his family as neighbors.”

1995

Keri Claiborne Boyle writes that Nolan Andrew Boyle was born in February 2009. Nolan joins big sisters Riley, 6, and Kayleigh, 4. . . . Kristen Herlihy sends a photo and an update. In July, she married Matt Flint. “We got married in the Finger Lakes region of New York and it was beautiful. After a honeymoon in Alaska, we returned to Boston, with my job as a social worker and Matt’s job as an engineer.” Kristen adds that they purchased their first home in January. . . . Jonathan Leeman has written a book, The Church and the Surprising Offense of God’s Love: Reintroducing the Doctrines of Church Membership and Discipline (Crossway, 2010). Jonathan is an elder at the Capitol Hill Baptist Church and the director of communications for the church reform organization 9Marks in Washington, D.C.

1997

Heather Lantz Beierle writes that she and her husband, Mark, welcomed their second child, Kristin Alexis, in October. Kristin joins big sister Lauren, 19 months. . . . Victoria Turchetti and her husband, Eric Donahue, welcomed Angelina Helen Donahue in September. Victoria adds: “We live and work in New York City. I am an attorney with Condon & Forsyth and Eric is a vice president at AXA Equitable Life Insurance Co.”

1998

James Carden writes: “After 10 years on Wall Street (the last four at JP Morgan), I started graduate school at the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University in January.”

1999

Jerramy Fine sends an update and a photo. In July, she married Michael Seymour at Hampton Court Palace in London. Rochester alumni in attendance included Nancy Tsuei, Heather Bigley McAnnany, Amy Goldfinger, Lindsay Chamow, Erin Meyer Lettman ’02, and Bryan Lettman ’01. Jerramy and Michael live in London, where she is a full-time author and he is the managing director of Ad Alta Consulting. . . . Sheila Huntley Roberts has been named executive director of New Hope Clinic in Southport, N.C., a free medical and dental clinic for low income, uninsured residents of the surrounding county.
