My name is Justis MacKenzie, and in addition to finishing my degree in Tuba Performance, I will be serving as your Eastman Students’ Association President this coming academic year. I hope you are all enjoying your vacations, festivals, couches, refrigerators, and wherever else your summer may have taken you. It will not be long now before we are all reunited on Gibbs Street for another year of concerts, recitals, and wing nights.
I’d like to extend a particularly cheerful welcome to the Class of 2015. There is so much to look forward to in the coming year! My friends and colleagues in Students’ Association and the Office of Student Life have many exciting ideas coming down the pipe. If you are interested in being a part of student government or if you’re just interested in what goes on behind the scenes, I strongly encourage you to attend the first Students’ Association meeting.
Every meeting is open to all undergraduate students and provides an opportunity to contribute ideas, voice concerns, and make a difference. At the first meeting we will talk about what it means to be part of student government and discus big-picture plans for the year. No prior experience is necessary!
Be sure to read the 2011 edition of Clef Notes, the newsletter with information on “all things Eastman.” which will help answer many questions before classes begin. Wishing you a fun and relaxing rest of summer and looking forward to seeing you all in August!
Justis Mackenzie , ’12
Eastman Students’ Association president
