CELEBRATION: The School of Nursing capped off
an $8.1 million expansion and renovation project this spring with the
dedication of the new Loretta C. Ford Education Wing of Helen Wood Hall.
The new wing is intended to help the school increase student enrollment
substantially, boost technological capabilities, and enhance research.
The addition is named in recognition of Loretta (Lee) Ford, the school’s
dean emerita who is internationally known for her role in the creation
of the nurse practitioner as a profession.
C. McCollister Evarts ’57M (MD), ’64M (Res), Medical Center
CEO; Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.); Patricia Chiverton, dean of the School
of Nursing; Loretta Ford ’00 (Honorary); President Seligman; President
Emeritus Jackson; Trustee Robert Hurlbut; and Adam Taitemann ’06,
president of the Student Nurses Association, help dedicate the new wing.
